Kristy loved dogs. Kristy used to take the family labrador, Smudge out for walks on her own. He lived for 15 years. We originally got him in the hope of training him up to be an assistance dog for Kristy. After Smudge died we applied to be puppy parents to help training assistance dogs for people in wheelchairs with Canine Partners. Kristy loved having a dog about the house again; she said the house felt empty without one. We started (and continue) to get little 7 week old pups and take them through their first year of training. Our house was always great as they got used to Kristy's wheelchair straight away.

Kristy was such an ambassador for Canine partners, always happy to tell anyone and everyone how wonderful they are. They can help you get dressed and undressed, reach things in shops, empty the washing machine, get the telephone, open doors, fetch the post and a million other things. It was hard when we had to hand our first pup, Hendrix back for his advanced training, but he is now out working and has helped change his new owner's life for the better. Kristy just loved being involved with all the pups in the whole of East Sussex and whenever she got the chance she would go with her dad to training sessions. She truly believed that by helping to train these pups she was helping to make someone else’s life so much better.

Thank you in advance for your support - from Kristy's parents, Suzie & Richard.
